What Makes an Artist Signable?

What makes an artist or a group instantly
signable ? What is going to cause them to
call you up and say we are interested in
signing you?

Anwser: That you've been successful on
your own.

Packing the clubs and you've built
up a nice following and sold thousands of
cds.

And that's what labels are looking for.
Artist have a tendency to want other
people to do stuff for them. They think,
if i sign with this record label my work
is done.
All i have to do is be really good as an
artist. I signed the deal and make the
record. The next thing you know i'm a
giant hit.
People are laughing you know better dumb
shit.
They want somebody who can prove to them
that you have focus and that you are able
to sell the product. Period!
