A recent survey has exposed that if money is no problem, the Lake District is the most popular place for a holiday home.

Research performed by Schofields Holiday Home Insurance and reported by Female First, highlights that the Lake District is the top destination if money was not an object when it concerned buying a holiday home. When people were asked where they 'd buy a holiday lodge usually, though, Cornwall came out on top.

As part of the research, 1,911 adults were asked to specify their optimal holiday home place. The results were Cornwall first, followed by Devon, Cumbria, Norfolk and Dorset in fifth place.

Nevertheless, when money was not a problem, this is how the top 10 destinations looked:.

Phil Schofield, representative for Schofields Holiday Home Insurance, said: "The UK is exceptionally rich in holiday home hotspots; something that the unpredictable weather typically causes us to forget ... It was unusual to see that although Cornwall was currently the place in which a lot of holiday homes might be found, based on our data, the Lake District was really the most desirable place for a second home if money wasn't a problem.".
